Austin Purkey, 30, died after an early-morning shooting in the Five Points area of Knoxville on May 6, 2026.
Knoxville Police Department officers responded shortly after 3 a.m. to the 400 block of Taylor Homes Road, where they found Austin outside an apartment with a lower-body injury.
Emergency responders provided care at the scene and transported Austin to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where Austin later died.
Authorities said 27-year-old Isaiah Hill of Alcoa was taken into custody after a coordinated traffic stop, while formal charges remained pending as the inquiry continued.
