Daylen H. Buchanan Of Bakersville Remembered After Fatal May 12 Collision On NC 105 In Watauga County Near Avery County Line
Daylen H. Buchanan, 20, of Bakersville, died Tuesday night, May 12, 2026, after a two-vehicle collision on NC 105 near the Avery County line in Watauga County.
Authorities said an 18-year-old Zionville driver in a 2017 Ram traveled south at about 10:30 p.m. when the vehicle crossed the centerline and collided with Buchanan’s 2019 Ram.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol said speed and impairment did not appear to contribute to the incident, and NC 105 remained closed for several hours while troopers completed their work.
The other driver received minor injuries at Watauga Medical Center and faces misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and reckless driving charges.
