Frances Evelyn Altman passed away peacefully at age 88 after a long and accomplished life, according to a post dated May 3, 2026.
Frances built a meaningful career in journalism and communication, with work connected to The Chicago Sun-Times and the Arlington Herald.
Frances also served for 15 years managing the National Hot Dog & Sausage Council and later taught at Virginia Commonwealth University.
As an author, Frances wrote nine juvenile books and several biographies that continue to reflect a commitment to learning, clarity, and thoughtful storytelling.
