Gaige Santos-Brown, 14, died after an incident around 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2026, along the 4200 block of 15th Avenue South in St. Petersburg.
Authorities said three juveniles approached Gaige before an altercation unfolded, and emergency crews later took Gaige to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Medical teams worked to save Gaige, but Gaige later died from the injuries, leaving family, classmates, neighbors, and the wider community in deep grief.
On Saturday, May 23, 2026, St. Petersburg authorities announced the arrest of a 16-year-old boy connected to the case and said they continued searching for two additional juveniles.
