Dr. Wayne Sebastianelli MD, a respected orthopedic surgeon and longtime Penn State Sports Medicine leader, has passed away in State College, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Sebastianelli served as Medical Director of Penn State Sports Medicine and held major leadership roles within the university’s healthcare system.

The physician built a distinguished career in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine, with clinical focus on knees, shoulders, ligaments, athlete care, and rehabilitation.

Colleagues, students, and former patients remember Dr. Sebastianelli as a steady, trusted presence who combined medical excellence with compassion.

Throughout decades of service, Dr. Sebastianelli contributed to research, teaching, mentorship, and national standards in sports medicine.

The doctor also served as professor of orthopaedics and associate chief medical officer within the Centre County region.
